Warm autumn colors, cheerful sunflowers, and delightful details make Happy Sunshine a celebration of the season's abundance.

The piano-key border features embroidered sunflowers stitched onto richly colored quilting cottons in shades of gold, rust, pumpkin, and burgundy. Across the top, a garland of crocheted flowers and hand-embroidered wool felt leaves winds gracefully over a handwoven panel, while yo-yo flowers and crocheted leaves embellished with millefiori beaded centers bloom along either side of the central motif.

At the heart of the piece, a dimensional sunflower with wool felt appliquéd petals blossoms against a handwoven background. Look closely and you'll discover embroidered bumblebees, a parade of ladybugs and praying mantises, and countless small details that reveal themselves over time.

One of the joys of creating this piece was combining handwoven fabric with printed quilting cottons—some with a subtle sparkle—to create layers of texture, contrast, and visual surprise throughout the design.

The wall hanging is backed with rust-colored textured cotton and includes a custom artist's label, a rod pocket, and a wooden dowel for immediate display.
